Make A Water Wheel

Location > Water Cycle
3rd Grade Activity

This is an experiment that uses the power of moving water. You will need:

  • cardboard
  • an empty thread spool
  • a thin straw (the kind use to stir drinks)
  • double-sided tape.

1) Trace the shapes provided onto cardboard and cut them out. You will need one circle and five blades.

2) Stick the circle onto the end of the spool with the tape.

3) Carefully fold over the tabs on the blades. Tape them in position on the spool and on the circle.

4) Push the straw through the center hole of the spool so that the water wheel can spin around freely.
