Energy

Second graders are exploring many different aspects of energy. If you choose to become an energy expert, you should be able to talk about, describe, demonstrate, and/or answer questions about your field of energy in class. You will be the teacher!

1. Choose a topic:

light
shadows
transparency
flashlights
optical illusions
magnetism
electricity
static
batteries
light bulbs
circuits
lightning
conductors and insulators
solar power
wind power
water power
water power
friction
food energy
ideas of your own

2. How will you present what you have learned?
Be creative! Will you:

Write a short report?
(1 page is fine)
Draw a diagram?
Write a poem or short
picture book?
Design a poster?
Make a model?
Sing a song?
Create a powerpoint?
Something else?
3. Will you work alone or with a partner?

4. You may research your topic in many ways: Read about it in books; Surf the internet but ONLY with an adult; Ask an expert or someone who knows; Visit a museum such as The N.Y. Hall of Science or Liberty Science Center.

5. Have FUN!!!

6. Return your finished project (that you are SO absolutely proud of!) to school when you are finished!
